Arizona is blessed with loads of quirky towns sprouting in the middle of nowhere, but none tops Chloride for distinctive personality. The signed turnoff for the town is about 18 miles north of Kingman at mile marker 54.

• Curled at the foot of the Cerbat Mountains, 4 miles east of U.S. 93, Chloride is a former mining town best known for 2,000 square feet of gloriously garish murals splashed across granite boulders. Internationally known artist Roy Purcell first painted the "The Journey" in 1966 and then repainted it at the town's invitation in 2006. Such artistic passion also can be found in the handful of galleries and the wide-ranging displays of yard art that fill the town. LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) - Dyllon Stevens was on his way to work in Las Vegas on Thursday morning when he saw a car on fire off Highway 93, not far from Kingman, AZ.

Arizona DPS officials say a wrong way driver hit another car around 5:40 a.m. on U.S. 93 near Dolan Springs, AZ and the wrong way driver’s car started on fire.

Stevens, who lives in Kingman, says he assumed the crash just happened and suspected someone was inside because he did not see any emergency vehicles at the time. His dash camera was rolling at the time and caught the incident.

“I was screaming and pleading, she’s going to die if we didn’t get her out,” said Stevens.

Stevens says he heard tapping on a window, which he believes was a woman inside trying to get his attention. He says he couldn’t see inside because it was dark, and the windows were tinted. He struggled for a while to get in through a window, saying the window wouldn’t break, but was finally able to get inside.

Stevens encountered another big problem in the car. He says the woman was upside down in the overturned vehicle and dangling from her seatbelt. He couldn’t unbuckle it, so he cut it.

“But when I did, she just immediately dropped all the way to the bottom of the car,” said Stevens.

As flames continued to burn only feet from him, Stevens then struggled to lift the woman to the window. The doors wouldn’t open.

“It was very hot. It very hot. It was a little hard to breath,” he said.

He says other people were on scene watching this unfold but say they didn’t help him.

“She was limp the whole time, so it was very difficult to get her out. It was just super difficult,” said Stevens.

Stevens says after several minutes he was able to get the woman out and that’s when he says others finally stepped in to help carry the woman away from the burning car. Stevens says flames ripped through where the woman was trapped inside just seconds after pulling her out.

Arizona DPS officials say the wrong way driver was transported to the hospital with serious injuries. The person the wrong way driver collided with refused medical treatment.

“The mental state and condition of the driver of the wrong way vehicle is suspected to have contributed to the collision. Impairment is not suspected,” said DPS officials.

Saturday morning, officials told FOX5 the woman was suffering from a brain bleed which may have caused her to drive incorrectly.

Troopers say they are grateful for Stevens’s help. The woman is now in stable condition since posting the story.
