In August of this year, due to water damage, a corner of the ceiling fell through in the spare room of my rental property. I called Restoration 1 and although it was after business hours, a clean up crew was immediately dispatched and arrived within an hour. They immediately went to work including but not limited to : cleaning up all the debris, tearing down the wet drywall and insulation, HEPA vacuuming all fallen material and applying plant based antimicrobial agent to the surface area. All work was done with extreme precaution taken not to disturb or contaminate other areas of the house. When their work was finished, the opening was sealed sufficiently until permanent repairs could be completed. Several days later, a mold test was done which provided sufficient safety results. Needless to say, this can be an extremely stressful situation , dealing with upset tenants, and waiting for reports etc. however, with the help, knowledge and patience of both Dustin and Dylan at Restoration 1, this entire process was handled in the most efficient and professional way possible. My sincere thanks and gratitude to both and to their tech crews who are all truly assets to the company. Five stars is not enough. Waterways Hit and Run Collision – Lake Havasu

Lake Havasu, AZ – On Sunday, May 25th, Deputies from the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office Division of Boating Safety swiftly responded to Site 6 on Lake Havasu following reports of an injury boating collision. It was reported that a female juvenile had sustained injuries and was in transit to Site 6 to rendezvous with medical personnel.

Initial information revealed that the injured female, along with another juvenile, were on an inflatable tube being towed by a boat when they were struck by a personal watercraft (PWC), which subsequently fled the scene. Deputies, accompanied by River Medical Paramedics, arrived at Site 6 while several patrol boats actively searched for the PWC involved.

Investigations uncovered that a 21-foot boat was towing a tube carrying a 14-year-old female and a 17-year-old male at the time of the incident. Traveling north near Site 6, they encountered a PWC operated by a single individual heading south. The PWC made an abrupt maneuver towards the tube, running over the tow rope and causing a collision with the tube. The male juvenile was thrown over the PWC, while the female was ejected onto it. Fortunately, the boat returned to retrieve both juveniles, who managed to get back aboard safely. Crucially, the occupants captured a photo of the PWC and its operator before the suspect fled.

In the ensuing search, deputies utilized patrol boats and drones to track down the vehicle and trailer used to tow the PWC at a local launch ramp. Hours later, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Helicopter successfully located the PWC in the North Basin of Lake Havasu. Deputies apprehended the operator, identified as Erin House, 53, of Jurupa Valley, California. House faces charges of Leaving the Scene of an Injury Boating Collision, a class 5 felony, and has been booked into the Mohave County Adult Detention Facility.

The injured female juvenile was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities continue to gather more information.

LAKE HAVASU CITY, AZ — With white sand beaches, expansive campsites, and over 400 miles of shoreline, Lake Havasu State Park continues to draw outdoor enthusiasts.

The park offers boating, paddleboarding, kayaking, jet skiing, and fishing, with on-site rentals available for those without their own watercraft.

“We’re the best watering hole in the desert,” said Terrance Torvund, assistant manager of Lake Havasu State Park. “Whether you're looking for adventure or just a quiet place, we’ve got it.”

The park also features cabins with heating and air conditioning, as well as tent and RV camping sites. Visitors can also hike scenic trails and relax in the cactus garden.

Lake Havasu is known for its scenic desert-meets-water landscape — a rarity in Arizona.

“You have far-fetching views that are amazing,” said boater Doug Rubien. “It’s just tranquil and peaceful. It’s another day in paradise.”

Whether spending a day on the lake or camping under the stars, Lake Havasu State Park stands out as a true Arizona getaway.

Admission is $20 per vehicle Monday through Thursday and $25 Friday through Sunday.

Memorial Day weekend chaos: Boats burn, crash and sink on Colorado River, Lake Havasu

Two boats sank and numerous others were involved in crashes and fires on the Colorado River and Lake Havasu in northwestern Arizona through the Memorial Day weekend, according to the Mohave County Sheriff's Office.

A dozen deputies patrolled up and down the lower Colorado River, on the water at Lake Havasu and through Topock and Davis Camp in Bullhead City, according to a Facebook post from the Sheriff's Office.

Deputies dealt with more than 260 boaters, handing out 30 citations, the post said.

They also investigated nine boat crashes that included injuries, five without injuries, assisted 29 boaters, performed six water rescues and responded to nine medical emergencies, the Sheriff's Office reported.

Boaters injured, burned in fires at Lake Havasu

On Lake Havasu, two separate boat fires happened on back-to-back days, along with two boat sinkings.

On May 23, a boat caught fire at the Crazy Horse Marina. The boat operator suffered burns to his face and arms but was able to jump from the vessel, the Sheriff's Office confirmed. The fully engulfed boat was extinguished by patrol boats.

On May 24, a boat launched at Havasu Riviera before bursting into flames. The operator was able to jump into the water without injuries, and a fire boat from the San Bernardino County Fire Department arrived on the scene and extinguished the blaze, the Facebook post detailed. The boat sank to the bottom of the lake, closing the launch ramp and delaying others, the Sheriff's Office confirmed.

A vehicle and trailer were reported to have gone underwater the same day at Lake Havasu State Park, prompting deputies to send divers out, but no one was found inside the vehicle, the Sheriff's Office said.

Crashes and sinkings at both holiday spots

A boat crashed the same day on the Colorado River near the sandbar, with multiple people injured, the Sheriff's Office said. The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department was investigating the incident.

On May 25, deputies responded to reports of a boat sinking in the north basin of the lake near Crazy Horse Campground. It sank after striking a large wave, causing water to come onboard, but eight people were able to safely escape, according to the Sheriff's Office.

The boat operator was cited for having children under the age of 13 on the boat without a life jacket, the Sheriff's Office confirmed.

The most popular retirement cities boast tons of outdoor activities, perfect for people looking to breathe in the fresh air and take the road less traveled after years of work.

Travel + Leisure teamed up with Investopedia for "Destination: Retirement 2025," a comprehensive guide to the best cities in the United States for retirees. Editors with both publications factored in cost of living, proximity to major airports and access to quality health care to make their list.

Here are the cities in Arizona, the Southwest and the Western states that were featured.

2 Arizona cities named top spots for retirement

Parker is a small town in western Arizona, located on the Colorado River near the border of California. Even though it's home to less than 4,000 residents, Parker is the largest town in La Paz County. The median home sold price is $315,000.

The desert beauty and proximity to outdoor excursions is Parker's main draw. When temperatures rise in the summer, you'll find visitors and locals swimming, tubing, paddle boarding and wakeboarding on the Colorado River. Hikers can hit the trails of nearby Buckskin Mountain State Park, and golfers often tee up at Emerald Canyon Golf Course.

While Parker is close to natural wonders such as Joshua Tree National Park, the downside to living there is the 100-mile distance away from international airports and major cities. For this reason, Parker might be best suited for the road-tripping retirees.

Lake Havasu City is another great place for the outdoorsy folks to spend their retirement. Lake Havasu City is just north of Parker in Mohave County, also on the California border. The county's median monthly housing cost is $914, well below the monthly average.

Known as "Arizona's Playground," Lake Havasu City is popular for its assortment of fun, outdoor activities, like mountain biking, golfing, hiking, fishing, swimming and water sports. Retirees and spring breakers alike flock to the city for the long, sandy beaches — complete with more lighthouses than any other city in America — a unique getaway from the usual desert landscape.

The city also boasts one of the best downtown areas in Arizona, as well as historic landmarks. Mohave County has nine hospitals and 391 health care establishments, making Lake Havasu City a more accessible retirement town while still feeling remote.
